History

Roundhouse Mill is a property converted from a mill built around 1810. Not much is known about the early use of the mill - one source says that the mill operated by drawing its water to the top of the hill using an aquaduct system. We do know that the mill was used during its latter working life to grind corn.

The house retains much of the character of the original mill. The thick stone walls and rambling layout all convey a sense of age and history.

The most interesting remains of the mill are in the round room where you can see the main wooden shaft and cogs of the mill workings. It makes for a fascinating focal point of the house.
